Corcovado Monkeys

Corcovado National Park and its buffer zones in the Osa Peninsula is the only region in Costa Rica where you can see all four species of monkeys, including the funny howler monkey, the intrepid Spider Monkey, the curious White Faced Monkey and the very rare Dead Head Monkey ( Titi ) the rarest one and also the one that is endangered the most. Each species is very different from each other, the Howler Monkey is very familiar, slow moving and a bit lazy, spending hours on a tree with the large families they normally travel around.

The Spider Monkey is easy to recognize because of its size ( long arms and tail and tall ) as well as its color ( Brown-Gold ) and its ability to climb from branch to branch in the wild. The White Face Monkey is perhaps the most aggressive one, not aggressive towards humans but also not shy at all. It is also an omnivorous monkey. It is easy to recognize because of its white face. The Dead Head Money is small, shy and hides in the forest. This monkey is fairly smaller than the other species. Some sub species have been identified.
