There are three ways to get to Drake Bay. The most practical option if you have a lot of time and you want to save time traveling to the area is the air transfer. Our domestic airlines make daily flights from San Jose to the Drake Bay track, or in case it is closed, to the Palmar Sur track. In the case of Drake, after landing, a short boat transfer must be made that lasts no more than 15 - 25 minutes to the lodge. In the case of Palmar Sur, you must first highlight a land transfer to the town of Sierpe, 15 minutes from Palmar. Once in the town of Sierpe, there is a transfer by boat on the Sierpe River, which lasts one hour and which is an extremely beautiful and interesting transfer, because it passes through the largest mangrove forest in Central America. Another way to get to Drake Bay is by rental car, which is possible during the dry season. This trip is made following the following route: Chacarita - Rincón de Osa - Rancho Quemado - Drake Bay. The most recommended way by us is the land transfer through Sierpe, where in case of traveling by rental car, you can leave the car in a parking lot that charges $ 8 per day. There, on the dock, later the boat leaves for Drake Bay. This route, although it is considered as part of the transport, is in itself a tour. The endless forests of mangroves stretch per kilometer. This labyrinth offers home to unique flora and fauna, and the landscape that makes up is incredibly beautiful. After the stay at the Hotel, return to Sierpe to take the car again and continue the trip to the next destination. This route is the same if you come by car or semi-private transfer to Sierpe.
